A Sunday well spent brings a week of content.
I’m not sure who coined that one, but I do find it to be true. I’m entering this new week feeling recharged and ready to hit the ground running. How about you? I hope you are, too. Let’s rewind to Friday and chat about the beautiful spring weekend!
David had to work Friday night so the girls and I turned it into a girls night. We got pedicures, did a little home decor shopping, and finished it up with pizza at Coastal Crust where we watched the hustle and bustle of a beautiful spring Friday evening dance around us. I love spring when warm weather starts encouraging everyone to emerge from their winter cocoons and the world starts coming back to life.

On Saturday I checked a few plant chores off my list. I planted some fern for the front porch and up-potted some of my seedlings that are growing fast. I tend to get excited with seeds and have probably started more than I need. I’m watching them slowly take over the laundry room and trying to figure out exactly what to do with them all.
I will say though, that my indoor watering can (currently on sale!) has made a world of difference in keeping them watered. I’m not sure what took me so long to get one but the flow of water from the spout eliminated any soil splatter and mess, so watering the seedlings and my indoor plants has been a lot more pleasant.
I baked some discard burger buns and a loaf of rustic sourdough (from my fav book) because we were having friends over that night. Can I tell you how fun it is to live near my BFF from college? Christen and I became besties when we lived on the same dorm hall freshmen year and it’s been so fun to watch our kids grow up together. I can’t believe we can say things like “we’ve been friends for over 20 years” but it’s so cool to have a friendship where you’ve seen each other through so many of life’s phases. Thank goodness there’s no real proof of our crazy college antics beyond our fuzzy memories

Sunday was not a day or rest for us; with a busy week ahead we made it a productive one. The girls had a good mix of school work and friend time and a smidgen of helping with chores. David and I went to town on some looming projects.
First we did a mini coop clean out and ripped out the old roosting bars to replace with wider ones placed a bit higher up. He fixed a broken coop window and then worked on the next step of a big tree swing for the kids while I piddled in the garden, admiring my carrots and planning where I wanted to eventually place the seedlings taking over my laundry room.
Then he went to town on organizing the shed while I tackled the playroom.

.
When we moved the girls begged me to keep the Barbies and American Girl dolls that they so often played with, so we set them up in the new playroom/homeschool room. Well, as time has ticked by they’ve not been given a lot of attention so I decided the time had come (big inhale) to upgrade the room to fit our current life stage.
I packed up all the Barbie stuff for storage and most of the American Girl accessories, leaving the dolls themselves because they occasionally to get some attention. I organized the CD collection and had myself a jam session. I freed up some shelving, made the Harry Potter legos accessible, repositioned the main table, and added our world map to the wall. I forgot to snap an after picture, but the result is a space better suited for our current needs and it feels refreshing!
I took a walk with Finley to talk with a friend and we ended the night with simple taco rice bowls that I find us eating once a week, but everyone loves them so much that I’m just rolling with it. Bone broth rice, taco meat, refried beans, lettuce, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, cilantro, and jalapenos. Still eating everything out of my fav dinner bowls.
We devoured it while watching March Madness and tried not to choke with UCONN sank that last second three pointer to clinch the game- did you watch that? INSANE!

Time to get the day rolling. One the agenda we have homeschool, a potential new co-op tour, H teaching a piano lesson, and a garden club meeting for me. It’s going to be a good. Hope yours is, too! Have a fabulous Monday!
