WELCOME TO CŒUR ACIDE: WHERE ITALO DISCO NEVER DIED

Step out of the rain-soaked streets into the enthralling thud-thud-thud of a mysterious new club called  CŒUR ACIDE. Step past the red velvet rope into a place where chrome gleams like a liquid dream under violet neon, and the air tastes of static and jasmine. Bodies move in slow-mo, draped in colorful satin and memory. Onstage, silhouettes flicker like visions out of a fever dream, feeding the room a pulse that feels like both familiar ritual and brand-new sensation at once. You don’t just hear the beat; you become it.

This retrofuturistic yet timeless vision is what empowers the duo CŒUR ACIDE and their new song “TOUCH ME (All Night Long)”. The new musical project features Canadian artist and producer Pat Lok, who has accumulated over 100 million streams, alongside Haitian-Mexican vocalist and multidisciplinary artist F-MACK. This debut single is an Italo disco track that functions as a passionate, end-times anthem. The song serves as the first release from their forthcoming EP.

Quick history lesson: Italo disco was driven by a handful of key players. Giorgio Moroder laid down the synth blueprint. The La Bionda brothers, Carmelo and Michelangelo, helped build the genre’s early body as D.D. Sound and under their own name. On the singles chart, Baltimora had “Tarzan Boy,” Gazebo gave us “I Like Chopin,” and Savage delivered “Don’t Cry Tonight.”

“TOUCH ME (All Night Long)” first appeared in 1984, performed by Fonda Rae and Wish. Later, Cathy Dennis recorded her own take, which featured a new set of lyrics she wrote herself, which is the primary basis for CŒUR ACIDE’s version. Still, their sound encompasses a broader take on the 80s sound, dipping toes into the very early 90s, combining classic Italo disco with a few solid nods towards new wave, pop, and even slight hints of R&B.

The genre is rich, fun, transgressive, and forward-thinking, and so is CŒUR ACIDE’s debut single. The band comes not from our time, but from a not-so-distant future where “…art and intimacy are outlawed,” and their Kyle Reese-like crusade is to save us today from monotonous sounds and mainstream airwaves oversaturated by industry plants. Their live debut took place in Mexico City to a sold-out, select crowd that partook of the band’s immersive experience, fusing a signature tea, fashion, music, and futurism. Whatever they’re planning, you simply can’t afford to miss out on them!
