The Best Self Tanners (Ranked by Ease, Color & Smell)

I honestly hated self-tanner until two years ago. The smell always bothered me, I never knew how to apply it without getting streaks, and I felt like the color was unnatural on my skin tone. That is, until I found a self-tanner that actually worked. Trust me, finding the perfect self-tanner can feel like a never-ending search. Whether you want a subtle glow or a deep bronze, the best self-tanner depends on your skin type, tone, and of course, personal preferences.

In this guide, I’m ranking the top self-tanners based on ease of use, color payoff, and scent, so you can achieve a flawless tan without the hassle. I even show you how to apply self-tanner towards the bottom! Read on if you want the full scoop, but if you want my #1 overall pick right off the bat, it’s Coco & Eve Tanning Foam in the Dark color. If you buy from Coco & Eve directly, use code TERILYN15 for 15% off your order. Or you can order Coco & Eve from Amazon. An honorable mention goes to St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse for the best express tan since it’s fast, natural-looking, and doesn’t smell as it develops.

Okay, onto the rest of the post!

The Best Self Tanners (Ranked by Ease, Color & Smell)

Best Mousse for a Natural Color: Coco & Eve Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam

Coco & Eve’s Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam is my favorite best tanning foam for a natural-looking tan. It applies really easily with a mitt (this set comes with one) and blends smoothly without streaks. I love that it contains vitamin C and E since it keeps my skin hydrated. I’m super picky when it comes to scents, but this one actually smells like tropical mango and guava fragrance, so no typical self-tanner smell.

While it does take 6-8 hours to develop, I can usually apply it in the morning, wear it under my regular clothes, and then shower at night to rinse it off so I don’t get any transfer onto my sheets.

If you buy from Coco & Eve directly, use code TERILYN15 for 15% off your order. Or you can order Coco & Eve from Amazon. Here’s a short video I filmed with some self-tanner application tips for this specific foam.

Here’s my overall “grade” for Coco & Eve.

    • Ease of Use: A- (tends to deposit more color on my knees and ankles than I want, even with super cautious application)
    • Color Payoff: A- (lasts about 4 days before it starts to fade)
    • Scent: B+ (I wish it were scentless, but it’s not horrible.)

    Pros:

    • Natural golden-brown tan with no orange hue
    • Streak-free application with a mitt – the mitt is key. Buy this set that comes with a mitt. (If you don’t buy a set, you can use code TERILYN15.)
    • Hydrating ingredients (hyaluronic acid & coconut water)
    • Pleasant-ish tropical scent

    Cons:

    • Develops over 6–8 hours, so you do have to wear it all day or all night before showering.
    • Slightly pricier than drugstore options

Here’s a photo I snapped last spring after I had applied the tanner. So good, right?

Best Non-Toxic Self Tanner: Beauty By Earth Self Tanner Mousse

If you’re looking for a clean, non-toxic self-tanner with a lightweight, easy-to-apply formula, Beauty By Earth’s Self Tanner Mousse is a great choice. I used this when I was pregnant! This mousse formula gives you a streak-free tan that develops into a natural-looking bronze. It’s made with organic aloe vera, coconut oil, and cranberry extract, and I found it pretty hydrating. Plus, it’s free from synthetic fragrances, dyes, and parabens. If a non-toxic option is essential to you, this is my top pick (I also have my favorite non-toxic suntan lotions in this blog post).

Here’s my overall grade for Beauty By Earth Self Tanner:

    • Ease of Use: A- (I found it a little harder to blend than other brands.)
    • Color Payoff: B- (The color isn’t as deep as Coco & Eve.)
    • Scent: A (It’s the best smelling of the bunch in this post)

    Pros:

    • Non-toxic self tanning lotion, organic ingredients
    • Lightweight mousse formula for even application
    • No synthetic fragrances or harsh chemicals
    • Hydrating with aloe vera and coconut oil
    • Streak-free finish

    Cons:

    • Develops over several hours, so plan to wear loose clothing for the day or change your sheets after sleeping in it.
    • Requires a mitt for best application (buy this set so it comes with a mitt).

Best Self Tanning Spray for Face: Coco & Eve Antioxidant Face Tanning Micromist

Coco & Eve’s face mist is a game-changer if you want an effortless face tan. I used to just buff the remainder of my tanning foam around my face, but this is much better. The mist is super fine and gives an even application that develops over a few hours. I especially appreciate that it’s infused with hyaluronic acid and antioxidants to keep my skin hydrated and glowy, and it works perfectly underneath makeup.

Use code TERILYN15 if you order from Coco & Eve. You can also buy the Coco & Eve Face Mist on Amazon. I shared a video on LTK where I tried this for the first time so you can get an idea of the application.

    • Ease of Use: A- (It mists beautifully like any other non-tanning face mist, but I have to be mindful to make sure my neck and decolletage somewhat match!)
    • Color Payoff: B- (It’s not quite as dark as the foam that I use on my body)
    • Scent: A+ (Mild and doesn’t linger)

    Pros:

    • Easy spray application
    • Lightweight formula that won’t clog pores
    • Hydrating with hyaluronic acid and dragon fruit extract
    • Develops within a few hours

    Cons:

    • Not as buildable as drops or serums

Honorable Mention: Salty Face Tanning Water

The Salty Face Tanning Water is another excellent choice for a customizable face tan, but it’s more gradual, as you can see in the photos below. It’s actually one of the top-rated self-tanners for fair skin (which I mentioned below).

Best for a Deep Color: Lux Unfiltered N°36 Supernatural Self-Tanning Mousse in Blood Orange

If you want a truly deep tan, try Lux Unfiltered’s N°36 Supernatural Self-Tanning Mousse in Blood Orange. This mousse provides a deep, bronzed color while maintaining a natural finish. I used it for a while before switching to Coco & Eve for a slightly lighter tan.

Here’s my overall grade for the Lux Unfiltered N°36 Supernatural Self-Tanning Mousse:

    • Ease of Use: B- (It’s dark so you have to be careful when applying since mistakes are more prominent.)
    • Color Payoff: A+ (Truly stunning color that’s natural without a hint of orange.)
    • Scent: A- (Smells pleasant but lingers.)

    Pros:

    • Deep, long-lasting tan
    • Vegan and cruelty-free formula
    • Hydrating with shea butter and hyaluronic acid

    Cons:

    • Stronger scent than other options
    • Requires more care with the application since it’s a deeper tan. Definitely buy a mitt (that one is cheap and is my favorite one I have!).

Best Tanning Mist: Tan Luxe The Water

Tan Luxe The Water is a top pick for a lightweight, no-mess application. This is a clear tanning mist, or tanning water, that provides a glow without the risk of staining clothes or sheets (LOVE that). It’s packed with hydrating ingredients and gives a gradual, buildable tan. Since the mist is clear, though, you have to be careful not to spray too much in one spot since you won’t be able to see where it goes.

It’s easy to spray, for the most part, and I like that I can mist my back, but the included mitt is slippery and hard to control. It’s also hard to use when you have to switch hands to apply to your non-dominant arm. While I love that it’s super lightweight, has a nice scent, and it’s somewhat easy to spritz onto my own back, the color payoff is pretty limited.

Here’s my overall grade for the Tan Luxe The Water:

    • Ease of Use: C (It’s easy to spray, for the most part, and I like that I can mist my back, but the included mitt is slippery and hard to control. The oil is super messy and got on my rug, so beware.)
    • Color Payoff: C (Color is very minimal but natural-looking!)
    • Scent: A+ (Smells great going on.)

    Pros:

    • Lightweight, clear formula
    • No transfer onto clothes
    • Smells nice

    Cons:

    • Difficult to use the bottle with your non-dominant hand when spraying your dominant arm
    • Also requires careful application since you can’t see where the product is going
    • Limited color payoff

Best Express Self Tanner: St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse

I recently tried the St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse, and it quickly became a top favorite. The texture is lightweight, it blends beautifully with a mitt, and the color is a natural, olive-toned bronze. It’s never streaky and not overly orange.

I love that it’s an express tan since I hate sitting in tanner all day, and if you need a nice wash of color before family photos, a big date night, or a wedding weekend, you may not have the entire day to let a fake tan develop. It’s worth noting that I noticed the color got a little darker after 12 hours, which I honestly like! I also love the pleasant scent.

Here’s my overall grade for the St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse:

    • Ease of Use: A (This blends the easiest of any brand and didn’t leave any lines the next day.)
    • Color Payoff: B+ (The color isn’t as deep as Coco & Eve, but, to be fair, it’s an express tan. But the color itself was beautifully natural without zero orange tones.)
    • Scent: A+ (Smells great going on, then fades, unlike most self-tanners that get smellier over time.)

    Pros:

    • Reliable, streak-free finish
    • Express tan – develops in 1-3 hours
    • Natural-looking color (not orange)
    • Long-lasting fade
    • Pleasant scent

    Cons:

    • Pricey
    • Color isn’t as deep as other express options

If you’re new to self-tanning or just want something you can trust every single time, this is my top recommended self-tanner.

Self Tanner to Skip: Isle of Paradise

I’ve tried Isle of Paradise, both the drops and the foam, and I hated them. The formula didn’t work well for me. It was either too streaky or too patchy, and the smell wasn’t great. The foam formula leaked everywhere, too. Definitely not a repurchase for me!

    Self Tanner Application Tips

Here is a short video with tips for applying self-tanner evenly, but the key takeaways are:

    • Exfoliate your body before applying the tan. I like this Primally Pure body exfoliator.
    • Always use a mitt.
    • Start with two pumps and rub all over.
    • Sweep down on hands.
    • Use whatever is left over on your mitt for the back and front of your knee.
    • Gentle sweep down on your feet.
    • Wear something dark and lightweight like these wide-leg pants from Amazon while your tan develops.

What Is the Best Self Tanner for Fair Skin?

If you have fair skin, the wrong self-tanner can leave you looking orange or patchy. The best options develop into a natural shade without an orange hue. Mousse or foam formulas work well for fair skin because they allow for even application. To prevent dryness and streaks, look for hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, Aloe vera, and shea butter. My top recommendations would be the Salty Face Tanning Water or the Coco & Eve mousse in the medium shade (I use the shade Dark, and I have light/medium skin).

    Final Thoughts

The best self-tanner for you depends on your skin type, desired depth of color, and application preference. Whether you love a mousse, mist, oil, or drops, these top-rated picks will give you a natural, streak-free glow. Always prep your skin with exfoliation and moisturization before applying self-tanner, and use a mitt or brush for a flawless blend.

  • What’s Your Wrist Frequency

Music cuts across age, geography, and personal style. Before you know someone’s politics or profession, you likely know what they’re listening to—rock, jazz, hip-hop, EDM, Latin pop.

Genre is more than preference; it’s posture. The emotional frequency you move through the world with. The music we choose says something about how we see ourselves—and how we want to be seen.

Watches work the same way. A serious timepiece isn’t just about tracking hours; it’s about rhythm and restraint, boldness or understatement. It’s identity, distilled in steel and gold.

If music is the soundtrack to your life, what does your playlist say about your watch?

    Ritmo & Radiance

In South Florida, Latin music is more than a category. It’s a daily soundtrack. It drifts from convertibles at stoplights, rolls through waterfront cafés, hums in late-night kitchens. Passionate. Expressive. Rhythmic.

Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican megastar who treats tradition as something to bend rather than follow, pairs his boundary-pushing style with vintage classics like the Rolex Day-Date 18038, often with a wood dial. The Presidential silhouette carries authority; the dial adds warmth and character. Heritage, remixed.

Shakira, who once teased about trading a Rolex for a Casio, has been seen in coveted Daytona references, including gem-set editions collectors discuss in hushed tones. Clean lines, technical precision, undeniable heat.

Latin watch style is sensual but self-assured. It moves with flair—but it always lands squarely on the beat.

    American Steel

Rock and Country music. devotees gravitate toward watches with presence and provenance. Heritage matters. Authority matters. These are pieces with narrative weight—the horological equivalent of a stadium riff that lingers long after the lights come up.

Take John Mayer, whose well-documented passion for watch collecting includes the yellow-gold Rolex Daytona with its hypnotic green dial. Bold yet deliberate, rare without veering into excess, it’s the kind of piece that signals fluency rather than flash.

Then there’s Stevie Nicks—ethereal, enduring—often seen in a classic Rolex Datejust. Gold and steel, balanced proportions, effortless confidence. It pairs as easily with chiffon as it does with leather, much like Fleetwood Mac’s catalog moves seamlessly between vulnerability and power.

The Rocker’s watch doesn’t plead for attention. It owns the stage.

    Blue Note Precision

Jazz is restraint. Improvisation within structure. A conversation, never a shout.

Those drawn to the genre tend to favor slimmer profiles and architectural lines—watches that feel considered rather than declared. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, long admired by John Legend, is a study in balance: industrial yet refined, avant-garde yet enduring. Its geometry doesn’t demand attention; it earns it.

For women who lean into jazz’s fluidity, the Cartier Panthère often takes center stage. Worn by artists from Norah Jones to Dua Lipa, it blurs the line between jewelry and timepiece with effortless ease. Introduced in the early 1980s, it remains as relevant now as ever—sleek, sculptural, and quietly assured.

Jazz style isn’t about flash. It’s about finesse. The watch, like the music, lets the nuance do the talking.

    Flossed Out

Hip-hop rewrote the rules. Its horological language follows suit.

This is a world of bold metals, unapologetic gem-setting, custom commissions, and collaborations that blur the line between atelier and manufacture. Tradition is respected—but rarely left untouched.

Pharrell Williams, now steering Louis Vuitton’s menswear vision, embodies that ethos. His collaboration with Richard Mille on the RM 52-05—an ultra-limited piece inspired by Mars—reads like a futuristic manifesto in red gold, ceramic, and titanium. The dial, evoking an astronaut’s view of the planet, feels less like an accessory and more like a statement about perspective.

Then there’s Cardi B, whose frosted white-gold Royal Oak framed in rainbow sapphires is pure celebration. It catches light the way a chart-topping single catches airwaves—impossible to ignore, engineered to shine.

Hip-hop watches aren’t subtle. They don’t whisper wealth. They remix it, amplify it, and send it straight to the front row.

    Built for the Beat

EDM and techno are about momentum—the build, the drop, the relentless pulse that carries a crowd until sunrise.

It’s no surprise that the watches orbiting this world are engineered with the same precision. Carl Cox, a titan of the global circuit, has partnered with Zenith on high-frequency chronographs designed for velocity: ultralight construction, 1/100th-of-a-second timing, subtle nods to vinyl culture. They feel mechanical in the best way—technical, exacting, built to perform under pressure.

Peggy Gou, whose aesthetic blends street energy with polished restraint, leans into vintage Audemars Piguet pieces like the Cobra. Sculptural bracelets, gleaming metal textures, retro glamour sharpened for the present moment. It’s nostalgia, but with a beat.

The DJ’s watch is kinetic. It marks the hour, certainly—but more importantly, it keeps pace with the night.

  • Skincare Products & Treatments in My 40’s

Skincare Products & Treatments in My 40’s

    Things We Outsource Without Regret

I don’t think I’ve talked about skincare specifically on here for years, since I was 34 to be exact. And 2018 feels like multiple lifetimes ago doesn’t it?

Anyway, it’s now 2026 (!), I’m 42 years old, and living in a new town. My skin is pretty decent if I’m rating myself. The pros? I don’t really have breakouts. My skin feels soft. I don’t have a lot of brown spots (besides my moles which I was blessed with many).

The areas I don’t love? My jowl lines getting more pronounced (like if I gently lift my cheek my face gets 10 years younger and I see the appeal). The lines on my forehead that don’t instantly fade after making an expression. The deeper crinkles around my eyes. To put it plainly: lines and wrinkles.

All of this is proof of a life well lived with lots of joy? Absolutely! And I’m so grateful for it.

And a the same time it’s weird when you start looking in the mirror and feeling like the person you see looking back doesn’t fully reflect the person you feel to be on the inside. I have zero opinion on what anyone else should do or not do as they age, but I am happy to share what I’ve tried and what I’ve considered. So this post is just that- a convo with your gal pal and I sure would love if you spilled the tea on your skincare secrets or favs!

    Skincare Products

Let’s talk about products, first. I’ve been hooked on Clearstem for years now, ever since I discovered it through Emily Morrow. My core (daily) products are:

I have other products that I dabble with, but for the most part, that’s all I’m using daily. I’ve tried several Vitamin C serums but have yet to find one that I feel makes any kind of difference. If you have one you love, please share, as I’d like to add it to my morning line up.

I’ve been tempted by other products, like a good eye cream and expensive anti-aging serum, but I’ve decided to redirect those funds from products to treatments.

    Skincare Treatments & Lasers

After age 40 the more I’ve been told that treatments are where it’s at. I’ve been largely inconsistent with these despite my belief, but hoping to make them a more regular part of my routine this year.

    • Microneedling – I’ve had this done twice (the most recent one done yesterday) and feel like it’s worth the cost for my skin. Relatively little downtime (a day of looking slightly sunburnt then some light flaking/feeling a few days later) and a little discomfort (they numb my skin) for improved texture, a minimized look of pores, and reduced fine lines makes this one a winner for me.
    • IPL/BBL – Not a Brazilian Butt Lift 😉 , but the laser that can help target brown spots and boost collagen production. I’ve had it done on my whole face, but most recently just as a spot treatment for some busted capillaries on the bridge of my nose. No downtime and almost immediate results for my nose spot in particular.
    • Facials – I’d love to alternate micro needling and custom facials every 6 weeks but still trying to justify the cost.

Microneedling before (above) and immediately after (below).

    .

    Injectables

Man, these kind of freak me out but when I see someone looking fab and fresh, so many times they mention some kind of injectable.

    • Neurotoxins (like Botox, Dysport, the one with the X) – I’ve had this on several different occasions and have really like the results of smoother skin and a softer expressions. I feel like it just makes me look more well rested. I’ve also decided multiple times to just stay all natural, which is where I am now. No “tox” currently in my face but I’ll be honest, I’m debating it. I really do love the brighter, fresher look it gives me. Maybe I’ll try Frownies.
    • Filler – this is the one that scares me the most and even though I’d love my marionette lines to be a bit less defined, I don’t foresee me trying this, at least anytime soon. I’ve learned to never say never but the idea of filler injected into and then staying or migrating around my face freaks me out.
    • Sculptra – I don’t know much about this one. I thought it was a filler but apprently it’s a collagen stimulator? I don’t know but I’ve heard more people talking about it.

    Microneedling Q&A

Since I just got this done yesterday, I asked IG for any questions on the treatment and also asked for anyone else’s FAV skincare products and/or treatments. Here they are!

    • Was this your first time? No, second! And I plan to do it again in about 3 months.
    • What do you use for moisturizer? I love this Hydroglow.
    • Any other treatments you’ve done? I’ve done Hydrafacials (love the experience but it feels more like a deep clean and for me it’s not worth the high price tag) and microdermabrasion (loved the feel of this and no pain- like a deep exfoliation).
    • Does microneedling hurt? Not hurt, but it creates some discomfort. They numb my face but around the edge of my forehead and the under eye still make me squirm a little.
    • Submitted Skincare FAVS! – microdermabrasion for dealing with minor breakouts, collagen as a supplement, vitamin C is liquid gold (why can’t I find one I like?!), I do the Cool Peel laser with microneedling (oh… tell me more!), I love gua Sha with chia seed oil daily (I’d love to incorporate more lymphatic draining techniques but I always seem to be rushing through my routine to get to bed- ha)

Please share with me your fav skin care finds, whether or product or treatment. What’s made the biggest difference in your routine/appearance?

  • 15 Hidden East Coast Towns Perfect for Slow Travel (2026)

15 Hidden East Coast Towns Perfect for Slow Travel (2026)

Picture this: You’re sitting on a porch rocker watching boats drift by. The café owner just remembered your coffee order. You have nowhere to be for the next three hours. And for the first time in months, you’re not checking your phone.

That’s slow travel. And it’s changed how we explore the East Coast.

We’ve personally visited all 15 destinations in this guide.

Here’s what we learned: the best travel memories don’t happen when you’re racing between attractions. They happen when you stay put long enough to know which bakery has the freshest croissants, which beach is empty at sunrise, and which local will share their favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

From Virginia’s waterfront villages to Pennsylvania’s countryside retreats, these East Coast gems offer something increasingly rare: permission to actually relax on vacation.

What is Slow Travel? (And Why You Desperately Need It)

Slow travel isn’t lowering your expectations. It’s raising them.

Instead of seeing five cities in seven days, you spend a week in one small town. You return to the same café three mornings in a row. You wander streets without Google Maps. You discover your favorite bench by the water. You strike up 20-minute conversations with shop owners.

🌊 What Slow Travel Actually Looks Like:

    • Staying at least 5 nights minimum in one place
    • Shopping farmers markets instead of rushing to restaurants
    • Walking nearly everywhere (your car stays parked for days)
    • Booking independent inns in small towns over trendy destinations with chain resorts
    • Having zero plans some afternoons
    • Making friends with locals who share insider spots
    • Actually returning home rested (wild concept!)

The difference? Regular travelers collect photos of landmarks. Slow travelers collect stories about people.

And honestly? After years of exhausting “see everything” trips, slow travel feels like finally understanding what vacation is supposed to be.

Why the East Coast is Secretly Perfect for Slow Tourism

The Mid-Atlantic has an unfair advantage: incredible small towns packed ridiculously close together.

You can drive 90 minutes from Philadelphia and discover a waterfront village where time moves differently. Two hours from DC? You’re in horse-and-buggy country. These aren’t tourist traps. They’re real communities where family-run B&Bs outnumber hotels and locals still wave from their porches.

Better yet? Perfect for getaways from Philadelphia, day trips from Washington DC, or week-long escapes from anywhere in the Northeast.

💡 Slow Travel Secret: Most tourists hit Rehoboth or Ocean City. Smart travelers discover these 15 hidden gems where you can still find parking, locals remember your name, and nobody’s wearing matching family t-shirts.

Virginia’s Eastern Shore: Where Time Forgot to Rush

    1. Onancock, Virginia 🌅

Historic Onancock Virginia wharf at sunset with sailboats and waterfront restaurants along Onancock Creek on the Eastern Shore
Historic Onancock Virginia wharf at sunset with sailboats and waterfront restaurants along Onancock Creek on the Eastern Shore Sunset at Onancock’s historic wharf – where locals gather nightly | Photo: Better Living

Captain John Smith called this the “gem of the Eastern Shore” in the 1600s. Apparently the man knew his hidden gems.

This tiny waterfront village wraps around a deep-water harbor where boats outnumber cars. The whole downtown is maybe four blocks, but those blocks deliver: art galleries showcasing Eastern Shore artists, antique shops with actual treasures (not junk), and waterfront restaurants serving oysters pulled from the bay that morning.

Why slow travelers obsess over it: You literally don’t need your car. Walk everywhere. The Onancock Creek, the galleries, the restaurants, the historic wharf where locals gather for sunset – it’s all right there.

🌅 Insider’s Take: Here’s what we learned on our third visit – get to the wharf an hour before sunset. Locals show up with wine, cheese, and camp chairs. It’s like a nightly party where everyone’s invited and nobody’s in a hurry to leave.

    Don’t leave without:

    • Catching that legendary Chesapeake Bay sunset from the wharf
    • Browsing the galleries (Willie Crockett’s watercolors will stop you in your tracks)
    • Kayaking the peaceful Onancock Creek

Where to stay: Choose from quaint B&Bs and boutique hotels scattered throughout the historic district, including The Charlotte Hotel with its award-winning restaurant and European elegance.

    2. Cape Charles, Virginia 🏖

Cape Charles Virginia beach and downtown showing Victorian architecture, local dining, and the iconic Virginia LOVE sign on the Chesapeake Bay shore
Cape Charles Virginia beach and downtown showing Victorian architecture, local dining, and the iconic Virginia LOVE sign on the Chesapeake Bay shore Cape Charles beach and charming downtown – Victorian charm meets Chesapeake Bay | Photo: Better Living

Cape Charles somehow forgot to become a tourist trap. This Victorian beach town sits on a public Chesapeake Bay beach with the calmest, shallowest waters you’ve ever seen.

No boardwalk chaos. No neon-lit arcades. Just a charming downtown with indie shops, farm-to-table restaurants, and a beach where locals and visitors actually talk to each other.

The slow travel magic: Rent a golf cart (yes, really) and cruise the residential streets past jaw-dropping Victorian homes at exactly 15 mph. It’s the best way to explore and you’ll feel like you’re living in a coastal postcard.

Perfect for: Families wanting beach time without crowds, couples chasing romantic sunsets, anyone who thinks “doing absolutely nothing” sounds perfect.

🚗 Local Tip: Golf cart rentals are the move here. We spent three days cruising between the beach, downtown, and hidden ice cream shops. Best $150 we’ve spent on a vacation.

Where to stay: Cape Charles Hotel puts you in the heart of everything – walk to the beach, restaurants, and shops.

    3. Chincoteague, Virginia 🐴

Chincoteague Virginia showing wild ponies, historic lighthouse, and fresh seafood on this peaceful barrier island The famous wild ponies, lighthouse, and fresh seafood found around Chincoteague | Photo: Better Living

Made famous by wild ponies and the classic book “Misty of Chincoteague,” this barrier island delivers exactly what stressed-out travelers need: nature, fresh seafood, and a pace that physically cannot be rushed.

One bridge on, one bridge off. That’s it. The island’s compact size means you can bike everywhere, and the whole vibe revolves around wildlife watching, beach time, and eating your weight in freshly shucked oysters.

The unforgettable experience: Watching wild ponies graze at Assateague Island at sunrise. Bring a thermos of coffee, find a quiet spot in the dunes, and prepare for pure magic.

🐴 Why We Keep Returning: Chincoteague feels like stepping back in time. Wake up to homemade breakfast at your B&B, spend afternoons relaxing by the water, eat the freshest seafood you’ve ever tasted. The views are stunning, the nature is abundant, and the laid-back island vibe is exactly what you need to reset. This is what slow travel is supposed to feel like.

Slow travel insider knowledge: The famous pony swim happens in July and it’s mobbed. Visit in May or September and you get the island (and ponies) mostly to yourself.

Where to stay: Channel Bass Inn offers historic charm right in the village center, perfect for biking to beaches and restaurants.

    4. Chestertown, Maryland 🏛

Historic downtown Chestertown Maryland showing preserved colonial and Victorian buildings with local shops restaurants and tree-lined walkable streets
Historic downtown Chestertown Maryland showing preserved colonial and Victorian buildings with local shops restaurants and tree-lined walkable streets Chestertown’s historic downtown – over 300 years of history in one walkable town | Photo: Better Living

Chestertown doesn’t just have history. It is history. This 300-year-old Chester River town earned Main Street designation for keeping its character alive while staying vibrantly, genuinely livable.

Here’s what blew us away: everything’s within a half-mile radius. Breakfast at a farm-to-table café, browse antique shops, lunch by the waterfront, afternoon stroll past 18th-century homes. All on foot. No car needed.

What makes it special: Over 200 independently owned local businesses. Zero chains. Just authentic shops, galleries, and restaurants run by people who actually live here and care deeply about this place.

🍽 Foodie Alert: The Kitchen at the Imperial has won “Best of the Shore” three years running. Their crab cakes are 99% crab, 1% magic. Make reservations or you’re not getting in.

🏛 Our Chestertown Rhythm: Life truly slows down here – it’s like a real-world Hallmark town. We spent most of our time at Brampton 1860 letting the pressures of life melt away, then made the easy 3-minute drive into town for waterside views, coffee shop moments, and delicious meals. Everything closes early anyway, so you end up back at Brampton relaxing by evening. That’s exactly the rhythm slow travel creates.

Where to stay: Brampton 1860 sits on a 35-acre estate just outside downtown Chestertown. You’ll drive 5 minutes into town for restaurants and shops, but the slow travel magic here is the property itself – morning walks through historic gardens, porch reading sessions, total disconnection from the everyday. It’s one of the most romantic hotels in Maryland.

    5. St. Michaels, Maryland ⛵

St Michaels Maryland walkable downtown showing local shops boutique hotels waterfront dining and the historic Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum along Miles River Exploring St. Michaels’ walkable downtown – plan to visit the Maritime Museum | Photo: Better Living

USA Today named St. Michaels one of the “Top 10 Best Small Coastal Towns in America.” Condé Nast called it “The Most Beautiful Town in Maryland.”

After three visits, we’d add: it’s also one of the most genuinely relaxing.

This Miles River town earned the nickname “The Town That Fooled the British” during the War of 1812 (they tricked British ships into overshooting with their cannonballs). Today it charms visitors just as effectively, minus the warfare.

The vibe: Upscale but never stuffy. You can have an incredible farm-to-table dinner then walk to the beach in flip-flops. That’s St. Michaels.

Can’t-miss experience: The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Give yourself a few hours. The 18-acre waterfront campus includes a working boatyard, historic lighthouse you can climb, and exhibits that bring Bay heritage to life.

💕 Living Like a Local: After three visits to St. Michaels, we’ve gotten to know the shop and restaurant owners by name. The staff at Bistro St. Michaels remembers our favorite table. That’s the beauty of returning to small towns – you stop being a tourist and start becoming part of the community, even temporarily.

Where to stay: The Wildset Hotel nails slow travel with complimentary bikes, evening s’mores around the fire pit, and that perfect blend of minimalist Scandinavian design meets Eastern Shore warmth. You can’t beat the location either. It’s right in town and walkable to everything.

Easton calls itself the “Colonial Capital of the Eastern Shore,” but don’t let the history fool you. This town pairs 300-year-old architecture with farm-to-table restaurants that wouldn’t feel out of place in Brooklyn.

Small enough to walk everywhere. Large enough to have exceptional dining, shopping, and cultural events. The Tred Avon River provides gorgeous waterfront walks that never feel crowded.

Perfect for: Couples seeking sophisticated getaways with small-town charm. Foodies who want exceptional meals without pretension.

Where to stay: The Oaks Waterfront Hotel combines waterfront luxury with farm-to-table dining. Their dock makes it ideal if you’re arriving by boat.

💕 The Oaks Experience: Their private cottages give you your own living space on the Eastern Shore with some of the best service we’ve ever experienced in the region. The complimentary luxury shuttle service to Easton or St. Michaels means you can truly feel like you’re living here – your own cottage, waterfront views, walking trails, boat rides, and access to two charming towns without moving your car. It’s the perfect slow travel setup.

Kent Narrows isn’t a traditional town. It’s a narrow waterway connecting the Chester River to Eastern Bay, lined with seafood restaurants, marinas, and waterfront hotels.

And that singular focus is exactly what makes it perfect for slow travel.

Your Kent Narrows slow travel itinerary:

    1. Pick a waterfront restaurant with outdoor seating
    2. Order a dozen steamed Maryland blue crabs
    3. Watch boats pass through the drawbridge
    4. Repeat tomorrow
    5. You’re welcome

🦀 Our Kent Narrows Week: You could easily spend a week here just taking in the legendary sunsets, fresh seafood, and waterfront nature. We loved waking up to breakfast dockside, having an expansive (and surprisingly affordable) suite with amazing views, and the peaceful adults-only atmosphere. Every restaurant at Fisherman’s Village is within walking distance. It’s wonderfully relaxing and unpretentious.

Bonus for boaters: You can dock and dine at multiple restaurants here.

Where to stay: Several waterfront hotels put you steps from restaurants and the action – perfect for 2-3 nights paired with nearby St. Michaels or Easton for a full week on the Eastern Shore.

Lancaster County Pennsylvania Amish Country showing horse and buggy on rural road with working farms rolling farmland and traditional Amish lifestyle Sharing the road with Amish buggies naturally slows your pace in Lancaster County | Photo: Better Living

Lancaster County’s Amish Country forces you to slow down. Literally. Horse-and-buggies sharing the road create a pace that feels like accidental time travel.

The entire region operates on a fundamentally different timeline. Farms close on Sundays. Shops keep actual human hours. Restaurants serve food made from scratch – no microwaves, no shortcuts.

Why it works for slow travel: You can’t rush here even if you tried. The landscape and lifestyle create a natural rhythm that your stressed-out body desperately needs.

🌾 Farm Stay Magic: We spent four nights at an Amish farm stay and it completely reset us. Roosters at dawn, homemade breakfasts, conversations with the family about their way of life. It’s the definition of slow travel.

    Don’t miss:

    • Shopping at Central Market (one of America’s oldest continuously operating farmers markets)
    • Touring a working Amish farm
    • Nearby Longwood Gardens for horticultural therapy

How to Actually Do Slow Travel (Practical Guide)

The Golden Rules of Slow Travel

    1. One destination per week – Two weeks? Maybe two destinations
    2. Stay minimum 4-5 nights – Anything less and you’re still rushing
    3. Book the right place – B&Bs, boutique inns, properties with character
    4. Pick walkable locations – Your car should gather dust
    5. Build in zero-plan days – That’s when magic happens

    Pick Your Season Wisely

Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) are slow travel gold:

    • Fewer crowds – Summer tourists are gone
    • Lower prices – Often 30-40% less than peak season
    • Better weather – No summer humidity, stunning fall colors
    • More local interaction – Locals have time to chat when they’re not slammed
    • Authentic experience – You’re seeing how locals actually live

Book Accommodations That Support Slow Travel

    Choose places that encourage lingering:

    • B&Bs and boutique inns over most chain hotels (personality matters)
    • Properties with kitchens (shop farmers markets, cook sometimes)
    • Walkable locations (leave the car parked)
    • Places with porches, gardens, or communal spaces (for meeting people)
    • Family-run properties (locals know the best hidden spots)

💰 Budget Reality Check: Slow travel often costs LESS than fast travel. You save on transportation between destinations, can cook some meals, skip expensive “must-see” tourist traps, and often get weekly accommodation discounts. Check out our budget road trip tips for more money-saving strategies.

    Plan Nothing Some Days

This is the hardest part for Type-A personalities. Build in days with zero agenda. No attractions to see. No restaurants booked. Nothing.

    That’s when you’ll:

    • Discover the hidden beach a local tells you about
    • Find that incredible café you’d have never searched for
    • Strike up the conversation that becomes a friendship
    • Actually feel rested (revolutionary concept)

The Real Benefits of Slow Travel

Here’s what nobody tells you about slow travel: it doesn’t just change how you vacation. It changes how you see the world.

    You Support Communities Better
Staying longer means more money goes to family-run businesses instead of chains. You’re not extracting value from a place and leaving – you’re contributing.

    Your Carbon Footprint Shrinks Dramatically
Fewer flights. Fewer drives between destinations. More walking and biking. Slow travel is inherently more sustainable.

    You Form Real Connections
The café owner remembers your order on day three. The shop owner shares their story. These connections turn a trip into something meaningful.

    You Actually Return Home Rested
Novel concept: vacations that don’t require a vacation to recover from them.

    Your Slow Travel Questions Answered

What exactly is slow travel vs regular travel?

Slow travel means staying in one place long enough to live like a temporary local rather than a tourist. Instead of seeing five cities in seven days, you spend a week in one town. You establish routines, have favorite spots, and leave the car parked. Regular travel is about checking boxes. Slow travel is about checking in with yourself.

How long should I stay in each destination?

Minimum 4-5 nights to get the full slow travel experience. A week is better. This gives you time to discover hidden spots, make local friends, and genuinely unwind. If you’re constantly packing and unpacking, you’re not doing slow travel – you’re just doing regular travel slower.

Is slow travel more expensive than regular travel?

Actually no – it’s often cheaper. You save on transportation between destinations (no multiple flights or train tickets), can cook meals in rental kitchens, avoid tourist trap pricing, and often get weekly accommodation discounts. Most slow travelers report spending 20-30% less than they would on traditional vacations.

Can families with kids do slow travel?

Absolutely! Kids actually thrive on slower paces. No rushing between attractions means less “we have to leave NOW” stress. Kids can play at the same beach multiple days, make friends with local kids, and develop their own favorite spots. These East Coast destinations are incredibly family-friendly with activities kids love.

What’s the best time to visit these destinations for slow travel?

Shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October) are absolutely perfect. Comfortable weather, 30-40% lower prices, way fewer crowds, and locals who actually have time to chat since they’re not slammed with summer tourists. Plus these coastal and countryside towns are genuinely stunning in spring and fall.

Can I visit multiple destinations in one slow travel trip?

Yes, but keep it to 2-3 maximum. The beauty of these East Coast destinations is they’re close together. You could pair nearby towns: Chestertown and St. Michaels (30 minutes apart), or Lewes and Cape Charles (about 2 hours). Just remember: fewer moves = more actual relaxation.

Do I need a car for these destinations?

You’ll want a car to arrive, but most of these towns are walkable enough that you can leave it parked for days. We regularly go 3-4 days between driving in places like Chestertown, St. Michaels, and Cape Charles. Walking and biking are the whole point.

Are these destinations safe for solo travelers?

Very safe. Small towns tend to be incredibly welcoming and secure. The slower pace makes it easier to strike up conversations and meet people naturally. Many destinations have communal dining options (farm dinners, wine tastings, brewery tours) where solo travelers easily connect with others.

    Ready to Slow Down?

From Virginia’s quiet waterfronts to Pennsylvania’s countryside retreats, these 15 destinations prove you don’t need international flights to discover the joys of slow travel.

We’ve personally explored every town on this list. And here’s what we’ve learned: the magic doesn’t happen at the attractions. It happens in the moments between.

The morning the bakery owner remembers you like your coffee black. The afternoon you discover your favorite bench by the water. The evening a local shares their hidden beach spot. The day you realize you have nowhere you need to be and you’re completely okay with that.

That’s slow travel. And it’s waiting for you on the East Coast.

Your Slow Travel Journey Starts Here

Pick a town. Book a stay of at least four nights. Leave your itinerary at home. Discover what happens when you give yourself permission to actually relax on vacation.

These hidden gems have been here for centuries. They’ll still be here when you’re ready.
But your stress level? That could use a break now.

  • What Happened When I Used the ZIIP Halo 2.0 for 30 Days

What Happened When I Used the ZIIP Halo 2.0 for 30 Days

You can use code TAZIIP for 10% off your entire ZIIP purchase, including the premium gels!

I’ve been curious about microcurrent devices for a long time, but had read mixed reviews, so I was hesitant to commit since they are a bit of an investment. So when I decided to try the ZIIP Halo, I didn’t want to casually test it. I wanted to know if it worked.

That’s why I committed to a 30-day experiment, with consistent use, with before and after photos. I kept my skincare routine the same and even canceled a microneedling appointment (which I’ve never tried) so I could really see if the ZIIP made a difference on its own.

    And here’s what happened:

My Skincare Journey & Why I Tried ZIIP

My skin has had a journey. In my 20s, I struggled with acne. It was so bad that oftentimes, I didn’t want to go to work because I was so embarrassed. In my 30s, my skin improved dramatically, but as I got closer to 40, I started noticing changes in texture, sagging, elasticity, and, of course, lines. Now that I’m 41, my skincare routine is focused on addressing all those changes. And the ZIIP is a must-have in my skincare routine – I wish I’d found it years ago.

I discovered the ZIIP Halo about a year ago, and it’s been an absolute game-changer for my skin. It can address literally any skin concern you have. Right now, I use treatments targeted for lifting, sculpting, fine lines, and collagen boosting, but it would have been amazing to have during my acne phase, since it even has a dedicated “problem skin” section. The fact that you can choose treatments depending on your skin’s needs (which changes over time!) makes it a must-have tool if you want to take care of your skin long-term.

Since using the ZIIP, my skin looks more awake, more toned, and just healthier. (Don’t miss the before and afters below – they’re wild.) The ZIIP feels like an investment in my overall health (shoutout to improvement with my TMJ) rather than a quick fix – but honestly, it provides a quick fix too. It depuffs and lifts instantly, and also increases fullness, glow, and contour even more over time.

The Original ZIIP Halo vs the ZIIP Halo 2.0

Like I mentioned above, I first started using the original ZIIP Halo about a year ago. After my very first use, I immediately noticed the lift, especially around my eyes, and an overall glow. Over time, I also saw improvement in overall firmness and smoothness. My skin just looked tighter and more refined. Plus, my fine lines appeared softer.

I have a lot of skincare devices, but if I could only have one, it would be the ZIIP Halo, hands down. It’s also the one I use most consistently because I enjoy it and because it gives me results immediately.

What made it become one of my top devices, though, was the cumulative effect. It’s not just an instant-gratification tool; it’s the way my skin continues to respond with regular use. I’ve especially appreciated the increased elasticity since that contributes to so many signs of aging that I want to address (smile lines and loss of fullness under my cheekbones). My skin feels noticeably less crepey and tighter to the touch.

I even found that it helped with my TMJ, which I really didn’t expect. TMJ is tightness in the jaw area, usually caused by grinding your teeth or clenching, and I’ve struggled with it for years. I’ve even cracked multiple teeth from clenching at night, despite wearing a mouthguard. When doing my ZIIP treatments, I noticed that it felt great along my jawline, so I started focusing on that area, and I no longer wake up with a headache or feel like I need ibuprofen to relieve the tightness. I did not expect that benefit but it makes me love the ZIIP even more.

What’s Different about the ZIIP Halo 2.0

When the ZIIP 2.0 launched, I didn’t expect to notice a huge difference (similar to how most iPhones look the same). But once I started using it, I was blown away (again, similar to how a new iPhone camera is always dramatically better!). It’s truly an upgrade – and it already felt elevated!

First, the packaging. It truly feels high-end, with a sleek presentation. It simply looks premium, and first impressions matter! Plus, it comes with all three premium conductive gels that contain skincare actives (more on this later!), which is great since they are pricey, so it’s nice to be able to try all three.

Externally, the device feels more ergonomic and sculpted. It fits comfortably in the hand and glides more intuitively along the contours of the face, especially around the cheekbones and jawline. The texture of the device feels nice in my hand, too. I also like the little cover that goes over the plug to keep any gel from getting inside.

Internally is where the real upgrade happened. The 2.0 delivers more advanced, refined waveforms. It still uses microcurrent for lift and nanocurrent for deeper cellular support, but the currents are even more precise and delivered even more consistently than before.

For me, that’s translated into faster results. I noticed more lift, even sooner into a treatment. And my skin’s elasticity has rapidly improved since switching to the 2.0. I also can feel the treatment more; sometimes I don’t feel anything (depending on which treatment I’m doing), but when I can feel something, it’s a sensation I really enjoy (almost a slight pulsing) so I appreciate the extra zhuzh.

The ZIIP Halo 2.0 took everything I liked about the original and made it even better – and more effective.

What Makes ZIIP Halo Different from Other Devices

Our skin is naturally electrically charged, and these currents play a role in cellular communication, repair, and regeneration. ZIIP is an all-in-one skincare device that works with the electrical currents naturally found within the skin to transform your skin at a cellular level. (It was news to me that our skin even had electrical currents!) SO it’s working with a process that your skin already does.

What sets ZIIP apart is that it doesn’t rely on just one type of current, like many other devices on the market. Each ZIIP treatment uses a different electrical current depending on what you’re trying to address, e.g.. lifting, brightening, clearing, depuffing, or smoothing.

If you’ve never used a microcurrent device before, the sensation can sound intimidating, but it’s not. Most of the time, I don’t feel anything at all, and if I do, it’s just gentle pulsing. It never hurts, and nothing about it feels harsh or uncomfortable.

How to Use the ZIIP Halo

The ZIIP Halo is pretty straightforward.

    1. Open the app and choose your treatment. Sessions range from 2-12 minutes, depending on what you want to treat (e.g. specific areas like the eyes or all over).
    2. Turn on your ZIIP Halo, and it will automatically sync to deliver the treatment you chose.
    3. Apply conductive gel all over your face (the guided treatment will also say specific areas to make sure you cover).
    4. The app guides you through exactly where to place the device and how long to hold it there.

    ZIIP Gels

Another upgrade I genuinely appreciate is the inclusion of three premium gels with the ZIIP Halo 2.0. These aren’t basic conductive gels to make the device function properly; they contain skincare actives, similar to serums in your routine, which makes the entire treatment more effective.

Each gel is designed to support different skin goals while enabling conductivity, so you’re not just “prepping” the skin for the device; you’re actively treating it. That was a big differentiator for me. It transforms the experience from feeling purely technical to feeling like a true skincare ritual.

My personal favorite has always been the Golden Gel since it’s packed with active ingredients designed specifically for mature skin. But since I got all three gels with the new set, the Silver Gel might be taking the top spot – my skin loves the slightly thicker texture since it’s incredibly hydrating, and my skin seems to respond to the device more with the Silver gel!

I also appreciate that the gels don’t feel like a temporary layer that you rinse off. It’s actually become a step in my skincare routine, almost like a treatment serum that just happens to power the device. I will note that, while the gels can be left on for 5-10 minutes to act as a mask, they do need to be washed off. Use TAZIIP to save 10% on my favorite gel!

    My ZIIP Halo Review

Alright, let’s get into my honest thoughts on how it improved certain things.

How I Tested the ZIIP Halo

Since I wanted to really put the 2.0 to the test and see if I noticed a visible improvement in my problem areas (smile lines and lack of fullness), I followed the “30 Days to Your Best Skin Ever” plan in the app. I just opened the app each day (okay, I missed a few days) and followed along.

These are my favorite treatments, but I’ve never disliked one since they all benefit my skin in different ways!

    • The Everything Facial – This uses 4 waveforms to address everything at once. When I’m not following a treatment plan, I try to use this 1-2x a week. (There’s also a 4-minute facial that I use when I’m in a hurry.)
    • Collagen Boosting – I really want more fullness under my jawline, so I love this new targeted treatment designed to give you soft, glowy skin! I use this 1-2 a week.
    • Lymphatic Drainage – I never really know how to do lymphatic drainage, so I appreciate that this guides me through it correctly vs. trying to figure it out with a gua sha. I use this once a week.
    • Eyes – This two-minute treatment tightens, brightens, and fills in lines around the eye area. I almost always use this before I take photos for work or have an important meeting!
    • Pimples treatment – I get a single breakout in the exact same spot every single month around my cycle, and it’s so annoying. But I use the Pimples treatment to address it, and 90 seconds calms it right down.
    • Jowls treatment – This has been the most helpful for my TMJ, as it’s focused on the jaw area. I used to wake up with pain in my jaw, and now I almost never have any pain there!

Overall, during my 30-day purposeful testing period, I ended up doing about 4-5 treatments a week. I prefer using it in the morning because it helps with any morning puffiness and lifts everything up, which is a nice way to start the day. But you certainly can use it at night.

Here’s what I noticed after 30 days with the new device.

    ZIIP HALO RESULTS

    Lift and Contour 9/10

This was the category where I noticed results right away. It definitely lifts my eye area after one use, and over time, I’ve noticed my contouring around my jaw, which has started to show some sagging.

(I have pretty defined cheekbones naturally so I wasn’t too focused on that area but I bet it would do wonders if that is a goal for you..)

    Depuffing 10/10

Depuffing is one of ZIIP’s strongest benefits. When I’m puffy around my eyes in the morning, the ZIIP knocks it out quickly with a treatment. This was one of the fastest visible changes (seriously, almost instant) and made the device feel immediately rewarding.

    Collagen Boosting – 10/10

This is where I was really hoping to notice a difference since I’ve definitely lost volume in my face, especially under my cheekbones. If you pay attention to the before and afters, you can see that my face has more youthful fullness again! I’ve never had filler, but I have been considering Sculptra, and now I feel like I can kick that can down the road.

    Improved Elasticity – 10/10

It’s hard to show this in photos, but my skin feels noticeably different to the touch. I often find myself touching my skin throughout the day because I just love how firm and tight it feels. It’s hard to describe, but it’s almost like my face has started working out and has tone, the same way my arms feel after arm day!

    Smile Lines 6/10

This was the main reason I did the experiment, and alas, the ZIIP did not erase my smile lines. (Not that I expected it to.) But it did soften them. They look less deep at rest, and the skin around that area looks smoother and less crepey, even if the lines themselves are still there.

I do feel like my skin is noticeably more elastic in that area, which makes me think it’s preventing more rapid aging that would happen without the ZIIP. I will also note that 30 days is a relatively short amount of time, so the longer and more consistently you use ZIIP, the better results you will see. Since the ZIIP is something I will definitely continue to use, I will make updates to this post as I continue to see results!

If you’re expecting injector-level results from an at-home device, this isn’t that. But if your goal is gradual improvement and better skin quality without filler, this is the device to get.

    TMJ relief 7/10

I am a major clencher, and even with a mouth guard, I’ve cracked teeth. Sometimes I wake up, and my jaw is so sore and tight that I have to massage it for relief. But I realized that the ZIIP is actually super effective for helping that area to relax. It’s probably an off-label use, but if you struggle with TMJ and don’t want to get Botox masseter injections (I don’t), definitely give it a try.

    My ZIIP Before & After

Looking at my before-and-after photos, the changes are pretty clear. (I took photos three weeks apart in front of the same window. The lighting is a little different just because the sun is always different, but I didn’t edit at all.)

My skin looks smoother at rest, my face looks more lifted and full, and my smile lines appear softer. My skin also looks healthier!

Pay particular attention to these areas in the photos to see the biggest difference:

    • The fullness in my jaw area, along with more definition in my cheekbones
    • My jowls have less sag to them
    • My eye area looks brighter and more awake

Here’s a photo from about 18 months ago, before I was using the ZIIP at all. (Note that I did get Botox one time in the past year – mostly on my forehead). What stands out to me the most with the photos a year apart is the improvement in my skin tone – it’s more even, and age spots and melasma have dramatically improved.

My eyes look healthier, my face has more definition, and everything just looks more lifted. I’ve always thought I don’t really need the contouring treatment since I have defined cheekbones, but this photo, compared to my more recent ones, proves that the ZIIP is essential for maintaining that natural definition.

If you’re finally convinced this is a worthy investment (and trust me, it is), you can use code TAZIIP for 10% off your ZIIP device.

Frequently Asked Questions About the ZIIP Halo 2.0

How often should I use the ZIIP Halo 2.0?

For best results, I recommend using it about 5 times per week when you’re starting out. Once you’ve built consistency and achieved your desired lift and tone, you can scale back to 3-5 times per week for maintenance. The key is consistency because the cumulative results are what really make the difference, especially for things like softer lines, improved fullness, and sagging skin.

How soon will I see results?

You’ll notice an immediate lift and glow after your first treatment, especially around the cheekbones and jawline. With consistent use over several weeks, you’ll start to see more long-term benefits like improved firmness, smoother texture, and softened fine lines.

    Does it hurt?

No. You may feel a slight tingling sensation or a metallic taste in your mouth (which is completely normal with microcurrent), but it shouldn’t be painful. If it feels uncomfortable, you likely need more gel for proper conductivity.

What skin concerns does it help with?

ZIIP is designed to address almost any skin concern, e.g. loss of firmness, fine lines, dullness, uneven texture, and even problem-prone skin, like acne. The app includes targeted treatments, including a dedicated “problem skin” section, making it customizable for different seasons of your skin.

Is it worth upgrading from the original ZIIP?

If you already loved the original, I do think the 2.0 is a meaningful upgrade. It delivers more refined waveforms, improved consistency, and a more ergonomic design. Plus, the addition of premium, active-infused gels is nice since the gels alone cost quite a bit. If you don’t have a ZIIP device yet, you get to start with the best.

Can I use it with my existing skincare?

Yes, just make sure you’re using one of the ZIIP conductive gels during the treatment. Once you have washed the gel off, you can continue your skincare routine as usual. I personally treat it like a high-performance first step within my morning skincare routine.

    Ziip Halo vs NuFACE

This was my biggest question before deciding which device to get, and ultimately, I chose the ZIIP. NuFACE only allows you to adjust the intensity of the current; therefore, its benefits are primarily limited to lifting. In contrast, ZIIP varies not just the intensity but also the polarity and shape of the waveform with each treatment, meaning it delivers a wider range of results –  from lifting and toning to evening skin tone, reducing pigmentation, boosting collagen, and helping clear breakouts.

    The Bottom Line

After 30 days of consistent use, the results speak for themselves. My jawline looks fuller and my cheekbones more defined, my jowls have less sag, and my eye are looks brighter and more awake. The ZIIP Halo 2.0 makes it easy to get the results at home. I have lots of skincare devices, but the ZIIP Halo is the only one I consistently use because it works, it’s quick to use, and I honestly just enjoy it the most.

If you want to see these kinds of results for yourself, use code TAZIIP for 10% off your ZIIP device.
